With coronavirus continuing to cause havoc around the globe numerous have been wondering whether Apple’s 5G iphone 12 production would be hit. Foxconn and other factories closed for a while during China’s early infection, and Apple’s engineers haven’t been able to travel to the country, either. but according to a new report, everything is still on track.
A new Bloomberg report cites anonymous sources when it says that the iPhones – 5G included – are still on course for a fall launch.
It isn’t all positive news, though. While it’s still expected that the iphone 12 will launch later this year, those with knowledge of Apple’s supply chain say that it is still some way from being back at 100% capacity.
One person who works in Apple’s supply chain said not all operations are moving at normal speed because the flow of components to assemble is still slow. It will take another month or much more to get parts moving steadily through the system, the person added.
If Apple does manage to get the iphone 12 into stores this September, it will need to have everything signed off and ready for mass production relatively soon. building the number of iPhones needed to do a worldwide launch isn’t easy, although it’s possible Apple might scale down this year’s number of countries that get iPhones on day one.
